Stop Motion Studio App at www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_M468S86HI
Ever had the feeling you are missing something? I did. When I did a quick search, on the internet, I found Ms. Gach’s video tutorial. She has a pleasant voice and takes her time demonstrating the application. Her tutorial offered a quick overview of everything the application had to offer.

Usefulness
The video showed me some of the different ways to treat the slides, and demonstrated the rule of thirds. She also showed me how to adjust the number of frames per second in the settings section (the little wheel). This was especially good to know since it affects the speed of the video, and the length of the video too.
Conclusion
While I was concerned that I might not have known the application as well as I possibly could, I did discover that I understood most of the functions of the application. The few things she showed me like the timing of the slides and adjusting that setting were perhaps the most useful information because it is important to the meaning of the video project. Although I had figured out how to upload a project to YouTube, it is good to know that is explained also because I would recommend this tutorial to my students.

Symbaloo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqUg2sKRHlg
In the past I puttered my way around Symbaloo and learned by trial and error because it seemed pretty straightforward. For the most part it was, however, there are little things that would refine the visual aspects of the webmix, and I needed to know what those things might be. Michael Norris’s tutorial video helped me iron out some of those rough spots such as adjusting the size of the tiles and editing images on the tiles.

Usefulness
After watching his video, I went back and edited some of the Symbaloos that I had created previously. Now when my students access them from iPads and iPhones, they will fit the screens better and the images on the tiles will better reflect the content of the link associated with the tiles. I also changed some of the background pictures to reflect the theme of the units represented by the Symbaloos.
Conclusion
While I was concerned with the length of the tutorial video being so long, it really seemed to go at a nice pace and engaged me. Mr. Norris’s voice was easy to listen to and his speech was clear enough that I could let the video run in the background while opening my Symbaloo page to edit it. Overall, I think my students would benefit from making their webmixes using his advice too. I may include this link on all the Symbaloo pages.
